RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE LIMITS: A SEMIOTIC LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF AL-KĀFIRŪN CHAPTER

This article aims to find the demarcation limit lines of religious tolerance from al-Kāfirūn chapter Holy Qur’an and respond some issues developing in Indonesian. study is based on an exploratory analysis semiotic linguistic meanings with intention Indonesian Issues regarding practices greeting opening public speech, congratulating other celebrations, singing performance muslim students’ a church as cases point. found that limits are ‘the belief’ rituals’. Three activities considered go beyond drawn being studied, namely: (1) compromising belief, (2) mixing ritual activities, (3) imposing religion others. These three are, among others, measurement or intolerance.
